Abstract:

Abstract:

Introduction: Addiction is a chronic and relapsing disorder which has deep, social, psychological, physical and economic consequences. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of social support in the relationship between negative emotions with craving and RELAPSE RATE in substance-dependent subjects with RELAPSE. Method: The method of research was descriptive correlational and structural equation modeling. The sample population consisted of 130 opiate addicts in Zahedan addiction treatment clinics. They were selected by simple random sampling. In order to collect the data, Social Support Appraisal Scale (SSAS), Negative Emotions (DASS-21) and RELAPSE Prediction Scale (RPS) were used. The data were analyzed using stepwise regression, structural equation modeling, SPSS 23 and Smart-PLS soft wares. Results: The results showed that there was a significant correlation between research variables. Depression and anxiety predicted craving and stress predicted RELAPSE RATE in substance-dependent subjects with RELAPSE (p<0. 05), also structural equation modeling revealed that social support has a significant negative effect on RELAPSE prediction and decreases the effect of negative emotions on RELAPSE prediction. Social support acts as restraint while negative emotions have a positive influence on RELAPSE prediction (p<0. 05) and increase RELAPSE in opium addicts. Conclusion: Nowadays, addiction is one of the global issues and concern. Since human is a social creature, he or she needs to have a relationship with other people and need their help and support. Therefore, social support as well as psychological health enhancement act as a shield against post treatment RELAPSE. Creating social support for addicts who are in treatment is one of the important elements in decreasing crave and substance withdrawal.

Abstract:

Objectives: The aim of the present study was comparing the RELAPSE RATE in schizophrenic patients treated with oral atypical agents (SDAs) with patients treated with depot preparation of conventional antipsychotics. Method: In this historical cohort study, Mean RELAPSE per Month (MRM) index, Duration between initiation of antipsychotic treatment and the first RELAPSE episode, and the gap time between successive RELAPSEs were compared in 84 patients on SDAs (group1) and 81 patients on depot typical antipsychotics (group2). Results: Two groups were comparable regarding Mean±SD MRM index (0.033±0.004 in group1 and 0.044±0.05 in group 2 (P >0.5), the mean±SD duration of time between initiation of maintenance treatment and first RELAPSE (15.5+13.67 months in group 1 and 16.40±15.31 months in group 2, P>0.876). Conclusion: Oral taken atypical antipsychotics are shown to be able to keep the duration of remission periods between successive RELAPSEs more prolonged, compared to depot conventional preparations. This could be added to their other remarkable benefits especially if the patient is expected to experience multiple RELAPSEs.

Background and Aim: In regard to the prevalence of orthodontic treatments, the importance of RELAPSE and complications followed by RELAPSE are overlooked. This is further impacted by information gaps in Iranian Dental Journals and deficiencies in previous studies. In this study we have assessed the outcome of orthodontic treatment, RELAPSE and related factors in patients in the Private orthodontic clinic inTehran in 2009. Materials and Methods: This study was performed using a cross sectional technique. The samples consisted of all patients with various kinds of malocclusions and the presence of pretreatment, post treatment dental casts with at least 4 years post treatment. In these patients, we also prepared post retention dental casts. The indexes, including irregularity index, arch length, inter canine width, inter premolar width, and inter molar width in both upper and lower jaws were evaluated. The change in each index out of normal range indicated RELAPSE. The role of related factors such as sex, patient’s age at the beginning of the treatment, type of treatment, duration of the treatment, the length of retention, the type of malocclusion, and family history were analyzed using ChiSquare test. Results: This study was performed on 52 cases (26%) out of 200 cases which had complete records and positive response to recall. During the study period at least 500 patients were treated. The result of RELAPSE was 61.5% without considering the irregularity index (42.3%).The most important RELAPSE index was maxillary irregularity index (37%), followed by the mandibular irregularity index (17%) and, the least significant index was mandibular arch length (2%). RELAPSE was increased in patients with less than 24 months of treatment. (P<0.0001)Conclusion: RELAPSE was high regardless of irregularity index. Considering its complications, we suggest further studies to elucidate its etiology. This should be followed by preventive measures to decrease the RATE of RELAPSE.

Abstract:

Every year thousand of malaria cases mostly the vivax type Occur in Iran. The recommendation of WHO for antirelapes therapy of vivax malaria is the usage of primaquine (15mg daily) for 14 days but in area where G6PD deficiency RATE is high 8 weeks therapy (each week 45 mg of primaquine) is recommended. Considering the fact that in Iran drug therapy of malaria is implemented by direct observation of health care workers, 8 weeks regime of antirelapes therapy of vivax is very expensive and in some situations impractical. In this study shorter duration of antiRELAPSE therapy was compared to that of 8 weeks regimen. In 1996 and 1997 antiRELAPSE therapy of vivax in Sistan and Baluchistan province in southeast of Iran was done with different regimes according to manpower and executive facilities. This is a cohort study that compare clinically and parasitologicaly RELAPSE of vivax malaria in 200 patients with one-week therapy, 200 patients with 2 weeks, 800 patients with 4 weeks and 500 patients with 8 weeks therapy by primaquine. Relapes RATE of vivax malaria by each regime were 23.8%,13.2%,5.4% and 4.6% respectively .Relative risk of RELAPSE in comparison with 8 weeks regime were 5.2 ,2.9 and 1.2 respectively .Number need to therapy (NNT) were 5,12 and 125 .Interval of first RELAPSE varied between 6 to 52 weeks with mean of 28.8 weeks . The RELAPSE RATE was not different by sex. The RELAPSE RATE by 4 and 8 weeks regimes were low and there was not significant difference of RELAPSE RATE in 4 and 8 weeks regimes. So in special situations we can use 4 weeks therapy instead of 8 weeks therapy.

Abstract:

Background: Cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) is a chronic functional gastrointestinal disorder. It is characterized by recurrent episodes of vomiting typically sepaRATEd by periods of symptom-free or baseline health. The present study aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of propranolol and the RELAPSE RATE of clinical symptoms after stopping treatment in children suffering from CVS. Methods: Records of 504 patients below the age of 18 years with CVS who were treated with propranolol from March 2008 to March 2018 were reviewed. The duration of follow-up was 10 years. Results: The average age of CVS affliction was 4. 3 years and the average age at the diagnosis was 5. 8 years. All subjects were treated with propranolol (for an average of 10 months). 92% of treated subjects were cured, causing a dramatic decrease in the RATE of vomiting (P<0. 001). Only an average of 10. 5% of the studied subjects (53 people) showed a RELAPSE of symptoms after stopping the treatment. The results of a 10-year follow-up period of the patients showed that 24 had abdominal migraine and 6 had migraine headaches, all of whom lacked the symptoms of disease RELAPSE (prognostic evaluation). Conclusion: The findings of this investigation show that the duration of treating CVS with propranolol could be shortened to 10 months with a low percent of symptoms RELAPSE and this shortening may be effective in preventing the undesirable side effects of the drug. The presence of abdominal migraine and migraine headaches in patients after treatment accomplishment and the lack of disease RELAPSE can be prognostic measures for this disease, which require intensive attention.

Abstract:

Objective: The purpose of this study was studying of explicit motor learning in RELAPSE-Remission (RR) MS patients and compare with healthy subject.Material & Methods: A serial reaction time task by using software was applied for studying explicit motor learning in 15 RRMS patients and 15 matched healthy subjects. In this task four squares with different colors appeared on the computer screen and the subjects were asked to press 1 of 4 keys corresponding to the appropriately colored square immediately after observing it.In the first day subjects practiced 8 motor blocks with a retention test consisted of 2 patterned blocks, 48 hours later. Before test, the subjects were told the order of random and patterned blocks, and then RT values were calculated for each block and K-S test, paired T test and independent-samples t-test were used to analyse the measured blocks times.Result: The patient groups performed this task slower than healthy groups (P<0.05). Blocks time difference between the first block and tenth block, were significant in both groups (P<0.05). But Explicit motor learning in healthy subjects was higher than patient groups (P<0.05).Conclusion: although patient groups performed this task slower than healthy subjects, there was motor learning in RRMS patient but this explicit motor learning was less than healthy matched subjects.
